As I Was Saying...

As I mentioned before we are pretty set on keeping the girls as close to their schedule as possible. Through trial and error, we learned the girls do best sticking to their usual schedule no matter what day of the week, who is watching them or where they are. Since they get slightly bounced around with a few days at my mom's, a few days at home with Kevin and then my 3 days home with them, it seems to provide them some semblance of normalcy.

For quite awhile now their schedule has been:
7ish wake up- milk
8ish breakfast
9ish nap- milk
12ish lunch
2ish nap- milk
6ish dinner- baths
7ish milk
8ish bed

They always know right after dinner is finished it's bathtime and run right down to the door waiting to be let in to the bathroom. They also know where to go when we say it's time for milk (straight to the fridge), bath time (bathroom), and naptime (they go to their separate rooms). It makes it so much easier when they know what to expect.

The few times we've tried to adapt their schedules to fit into an off day, we've paid for it. Either they're overtired and cranky, clingy and whiny or they are overtired and wired which makes it really hard for them to get to sleep. We know people sometimes think we're crazy for not just taking the girls out to dinner at their bedtime or skipping a nap to bring them somewhere, but with the possibility of 2 cranky babies and (usually) at least one of us who has to work the next day, we're not really up for that headache. We would much rather sacrifice a few things here and there for now to keep the girls happy.
