How We're Different

Eating: - Olivia likes bread, Lucy hates it - Lucy likes lunch meat, Olivia hates it - Lucy will still eat oatmeal, Olivia has moved on to bigger and better things Sleeping: - Olivia has a harder time falling asleep while Lucy lays right down and cuddles up to her blanket - Lucy's always the first one up at naptime but Olivia's the first one up in the morning Playing: - Olivia will give her sister anything she wants and Lucy will take anything she wants - Lucy likes to make noise with things (Olivia joins in once she seems what's going on) while Olivia is content to read books and stack her blocks for extended periods of time Discipline: - Olivia is so sensitive and cries (usually) when you tell her no and Lucy laughs and smiles at you (and then tries it again and again and again) Listening: - Lucy reacts to almost everything you say whether it's naptime, eating, bathtime- she goes right where the next activity is going to be. Olivia will do these things too, but usuall...

And that is why we always keep that door closed.

Daddy thought we were laughing and playing in our room. Little did he know... Luckily he laughed and got the camera rather than being mad. He's the best (even if he did make us throw it all away).

Father's Day

Thank you for letting us wear your shoes! Thank you for reading us the same books over and over again! Thank you for wrassling with us! We love you Daddy!

As I Was Saying...

As I mentioned before we are pretty set on keeping the girls as close to their schedule as possible. Through trial and error, we learned the girls do best sticking to their usual schedule no matter what day of the week, who is watching them or where they are. Since they get slightly bounced around with a few days at my mom's, a few days at home with Kevin and then my 3 days home with them, it seems to provide them some semblance of normalcy. For quite awhile now their schedule has been: 7 ish wake up- milk 8ish breakfast 9 ish nap- milk 12 ish lunch 2 ish nap- milk 6 ish dinner- baths 7 ish milk 8 ish bed They always know right after dinner is finished it's bathtime and run right down to the door waiting to be let in to the bathroom. They also know where to go when we say it's time for milk (straight to the fridge), bath time (bathroom), and naptime (they go to their separate rooms). It makes it so much easier when they know what to expect. The few times we've ...

Road Trippin'

This past weekend was our big road trip to Arizona . My cousin Stephanie graduated from college recently and it was time to celebrate. We tried to plan the trip around keeping the girls to their schedule as closely as possible (yes, we are sticklers for our schedule- I will explain later). We left Thursday evening after the girls’ naps, some playtime, an early dinner, baths and jammies. I think they were a bit thrown off when we got in the car but they settled in to playing and drinking their milk for the first couple hours of the trip. They finally fell asleep right at their usual 8pm bedtime. Unfortunately, our girls have never been heavy sleepers. Not since they were infants and in their removable carseats have we been able to get them out of the car and into the house all the while still sleeping. They wake up almost as soon as the car turns off. They got pretty revved up once we got into my aunt and uncle’s house where we were staying and didn’t really settle back into sleeping u...

15 Months

We've had quite an exciting past week! First, cousin Lizzy arrived a week early because she wanted to always share her birthday with her mama. How cool, huh? She's healthy, beautiful and oh so tiny. Seeing and holding her brings back soooo many memories of those first few days and weeks with the girls. I may have to do a whole post just about those memories. It's been fun to see the girls get so excited to see Lizzy and they love to pat her head. We're sure they'll be great pals growing up. To keep the excitement going, we're taking the girls on a road trip to Phoenix for the weekend. We'll be spending time celebrating with family, visiting an old friend and just being away for awhile. It's a much needed vacation that we're looking forward to. In the midst of everything, it hit me today that tomorrow the girls will be 15 months old! Unbelievable. They can do so much now and everyday they say or do something new. This really is an amazing time to watc...
