Day 3 Is Over

We survived!  So night 2 was fantastic! Andrew was exhausted by 7 so I put him to bed before he really went potty 1 more time. We woke him up around 9:30 so he could try but he wasn't interested. He went back to bed until 7:45 this morning. He was dry when he woke up! I put him right on the potty and he went. It was a great start to the day. The rest of the day surely wasn't perfect but it was better than yesterday so that's a win. After lunch he finally started saying "pee pee" either when he had to go or when he had started going. Finally!! We had quite a few successes today and still a few accidents but overall he is going a lot less. His little body is figuring out how to hold it and how everything works. His nap was dry but he did wet right as we got in there to get him up (that's our fault- I was enjoying a nap of my own and Kevin was watching football). I definitely feel like we're close and I know he'll get it with some more time and consiste...

Potty Training Update

Well, we're 2 days in to this and there's no turning back. I would love to say he's getting it and we're so close, but honestly we're not. There is progress, don't get me wrong. It's just slower than I'd hoped for. I'd have to say at the end of today we're about half way there. Here's how it's been going. Day 1: lots of accidents also some successes he could care less about the excitement and praise when he was succesful he likes his Mickey Mouse panties and was always sad when they got wet but super excited to put new ones on he was more emotional about the whole thing than I expected when Kevin got home and I tried to do some laundry and some other things he got super clingy to me Andrew and I were both exhausted from all the running back and forth  woke up from his nap dry dry all night until sometime between 5-6 in the morning Day 2: fewer accidents more successes pulled out the stickers which he seems more into than...

Potty Training Time

Wish us luck! This weekend is potty training time for Andrew. We started bright and early this morning. So far he loves his Mickey Mouse undies and is sad when they get wet. He loves the talking Elmo on his potty but isn't a big fan of actually sitting on it. Hoping he catches on quickly!

Goodnight, Andrew!

Andrew has started this new thing that I absolutely adore and hope he never stops doing. When it's time for bed he gets his lovie and puts his thumb in his mouth. I scoop him up and he gives kisses to Daddy and the girls before we go to his room. Usually we'll read a story and then turn the lights out and cuddle for prayers. For the last week or so he has anticipated when I am at the last sentence of prayers. Just as I say the last few words he pulls his thumb out of his mouth, gets the biggest smile on his face, grabs around the back of my head and pulls me in for a kiss on the lips with impeccable timing as I say the last word. Afterward he gives me one more big grin, puts his thumb back in his mouth and snuggles up with his lovie as I lay him in his crib. It's the perfect ending to the day.

Lucy

I couldn't think of a good title for this post so that will have to do for now. Just a quick crazy/scary Lucy story. The kids and I were in Arizona for the weekend (more on that another time). Monday morning the girls got up and were playing on the iPad when Andrew and I got up. I went to go get Andrew some milk and left him to check out what the girls were doing. All of a sudden I heard a terrifying scream like I've never heard before. I ran over to the couch where the girls were and saw Lucy clutching her right eye and writhing in pain. She was screaming over and over and told me that Andrew hit her in the eye with the TV remote. I checked her eye and then told her I was going to get an ice pack but before I could even turn around Lucy's arms dropped to her side and her eyes closed. She went limp. I immediately started saying her name and Olivia was so confused she started laughing. I guess she thought Lucy was pretending and so did I for a second. I went to pick Lucy u...

Nutcracker

The ballet studio had auditions last week for their annual performance of the Nutcracker. The girls were determined to try out and knew which parts they wanted - Mother Ginger's children. The audition was very professional so after all the paperwork and measurements I pinned numbers on the girls, gave them a kiss and was ushered out the door. All the parents sat in the hall anxiously wondering what was going on inside with their kid(s). Finally after an hour the girls came out. They were totally nonchalant and gave little to no information about what happened during the actual audition. There were a lot of kids trying out for the same part they wanted so we weren't sure what to expect. Well yesterday when we got home we found the notification letters from the studio. The letters didn't say exactly what part they got but we'll know for sure after this weekend.  So we've just committed 90 minutes every Saturday now through December plus an entire weekend and fu...
