Pictures!

My good friend and former co-worker Catherine, was kind enough to take some pictures of the girls and our family a few weeks ago. Catherine seems to have a natural talent for photography and I know she's going to be too busy with all kinds of photo shoots one of these days to get us in. I have to take advantage now while she still has time! Check out Catherine's website for more of her amazing pictures! http://www.catherinetang.com/

Common Twin Questions/Comments

For anyone who has ventured out of the house with us, you know how much attention we draw, especially in the stroller . For anyone who hasn't experienced this yet, here's a good story for you. The worst idea I've had yet, was a quick trip Friday morning to Trader Joe's, just me and the girls. I thought I'd get in and out with a short list, the stroller bottom to carry my purchases and 2 rested and fed babies. First thing after it opens we head over there in order to avoid the usual crowd. Trader Joe's was filled with older women and word spread like wildfire that there were twin babies in the produce section. Next thing I know, we were mobbed and bombarded with comments and questions until Olivia could take no more strangers staring at her. I felt terrible for the 2 older men trying patiently to pass us, but with all these women and their carts, there was just no room. We survived, but probably won't be making that trip again anytime soon. I'll stick t...

Twin Mom Poem

Spent the morning cleaning out my inbox at work and stumbled upon this poem Natalia sent me July 31, 2008. We had just found out we were having twins. This feels soooooo long ago. Made my day to re-read it. Thanks Natalia!! A meeting convened one day in Heavens sacred hall. The ideal mother must be found for twins so sweet and small. She must be patient, first of all, And kind and calm and wise. And capable of chasing tears away from little eyes. She'd have to put her children first And be so very smart Have dedication and resolve, A sweet and loving heart. They all agreed you were the best No other mom would do. Yes, Heaven found the perfect one And sent those twins to you! ( c) Larry Howland Now, back to cleaning out my inbox. Wonder what else I'll find???

Let's Eat!

We started cereal last weekend. The pediatrician recommended rice cereal to start. We tried it 2 nights with terrible results. The poor babies had 2 rough nights with tummy aches and general fussiness. I think the iron in the cereal plus the liquid formula samples I was mixing it with were too much for their sensitive tummies. I switched them to oatmeal cereal with breastmilk and they have been happy babies ever since. They are great eaters! Lucy has already mastered opening her mouth as I bring the spoon to her mouth and she loves the oatmeal. Olivia doesn't quite understand opening her mouth as well yet, but she loves to gum the spoon. She also loves the oatmeal. I think the cereal has helped them sleep better as well. They had a week where they were waking up more frequently to eat which created a bad habit of night feedings all over again. I think we've moved past that though, and we're back to the late night feeding and early morning feeding. Thank goodness. Must h...

To Our Grandparents (and Great Grandma)

Happy Grandparents Day! We had a lovely brunch planned in your honor complete with our Mom's delicious fresh cinnamon rolls, Mexican eggs and turkey sausage (Mom also makes wonderful milk but I doubt you'll want any of that). Unfortunately, due to our parents' busy schedules, we had to postpone until the 27th. That seems very far away for us since we're so excited to have you all come to our house. We have a special surprise planned for you! Until then, thank you for being such wonderful grandparents and even though we fuss and cry at your houses, we love you very much and we couldn't ask for better grandparents. Love, Olivia & Lucy

6 Months!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Olivia Grace & Lucy Anne!! We can hardly believe it has been 6 months already since you came into our lives. It feels like we blinked and that time flew by. How do we slow it down? We couldn't imagine what our life was going to be like when we found out we were having twins, and now we can't imagine what our life would be like without you girls. What did we do and talk about before??? Life must have been so boring! We love to ponder things like how will your hair look, what will your voices sound like, who will walk first, how will you get along and on and on. Olivia, you are such a Mama's girl and Lucy, you're the spitting image of your Dad. Your smiles are adorable and your laughs infectious. We love to watch you play and discover new things side-by-side. You two could have only come as a pair. There could be no Olivia without Lucy or Lucy without Olivia. You're our perfect little ducks. We look forward to all the things tha...

My Babies Can Read

Though I do enjoy watching the infomercials, don't worry, we haven't thrown any money toward the My Baby Can Read system. We're sure the girls will learn to read at their own time and speed. In the meantime, they do enjoy looking at (and chewing on) their board books.
