School Begins

It's off to 1st Grade for these lovely ladies!! We had our traditional fancy back-to-school dinner the night before the first day. The girls remembered that surprise dinner from last year and were talking about it and asking if we were going to do it. Kevin took the girls out for the afternoon so I could get ready. When they got home and saw the table all set they screamed and ran to their room to get ready. They love dressing up, using the china and making it very fancy. It really is a fun night! Here they are before we headed off to school. They were full of nervous excitement. It was a great first day and they loved seeing all their friends again. There were some new kids in their class that are new to the DLI program. Lucy was so cute when she told me about the first day. She said there was a little boy at her table who doesn't know Spanish and he kept asking her what to do so she kept helping him. She said the next day there were 2 little boy...

Lake Tahoe Trip

Kevin and I took a week off work and we all headed up to beautiful Lake Tahoe for a late summer vacation. None of us had ever been before so it was truly an adventure. We had the best time. This was definitely one of our favorite vacation so far! Tahoe is absolutely beautiful! I'm amazed still by how crystal clear the water is, how far down you can see and the brilliant shades of turquoise and blue you see. The ombre effect almost looks fake. I've seen the Keep Tahoe Blue stickers before but now I get it. We definitely need to go back here again some day. The drive time was between 7- 7.5 hours. We only stopped 1 time each way (Bishop) for the restroom but otherwise it was an easy and enjoyable ride. We drove by a couple of lakes, some cute little small towns and seeing everything so green was a nice change. The kids all loved the tummy ticklers and laughed and laughed on every one. We hit a little bit of rain on the way in but the entire week in Tahoe was clear, warm...

Orthodonti$t

We've known for awhile that the girls have tiny mouths and they would definitely need to see the orthodonti$t at some point. I got them in this week just for a consultation to see when they would need to get started, what all would be required and mostly how much it would cost. It's never a good sign when the orthodonti$t walks in, takes one look in your kid's mouth, glances at the x-rays and says, "Holy Moley!" I equate that statement with $$$. Besides the tiny mouth problem, the x rays revealed they both have impacted adult molars due to the lack of space. Basically he said he sees this about 10x a year and I'm really lucky we came in early so that we could get this problem corrected now instead of when they're 8, 9 or 10 and would require surgery to essentially dig out the stuck molars. Yikes! The treatment plan is to get their baby molars that are in the way extracted in a few weeks giving the impacted adult molars space to come in on their own. He...

6 Year Update

I realized I don't do many updates on the girls like I do for Andrew. Here's a rundown of being 6 so far: Lucy lost one more bottom tooth They can both now tie their own shoes They can read us books in English and Spanish Still pickier eaters than I would like but they are complaining less and just going with what I give them more They ride their bikes ridiculously fast and like to take their feet off and glide or stand up and ride when we go for our walks around the neighborhood So sweet to their brother Love super heroes, Star Wars and all their old shows Still wearing some 5T stuff and also some size 6 Shoe size 10 Weigh 36-37 lbs

Soccer

I knew it would happen some day. I knew we would try out the soccer thing. Well, the time has come. The girls started soccer last week. We joined the team  kind of mid-season so they are just practicing with the team right now and not playing in the games. It probably is for the best since it seems the other kids have a bit more experience than the girls and actually understand what is going on and how to play.   The girls were so excited when Kevin got they cleats, shin guards and socks. They immediately ran around the backyard trying them out and kicking the ball around. They were nervous and excited about practice on Monday night. We got there a bit early so they could watch the team before them and they kept asking when it was their turn. Once it was time they ran over to the coach (Kevin's friend Pedro) and sat with the other kids. There is 1 other girl on the team. They followed along with the stretches and drills the team did but they definitely have a lot to lear...
