Nana's 70th Birthday

We had a dinner for Nana's 70th birthday party a few weeks ago. It was at the Spaghetti Factory and all her kids and grandkids, some of her siblings and a lot of her friends were there to join the celebration. Sarah put together an awesome slideshow that we started off with. After dinner there was some mingling before cake time. There was another large party in the restaurant that sang Happy Birthday right before we did but we showed them up with our extended McPherson birthday song. It was so fun! We are glad Nana had a fun night surrounded by her closest friends and family celebrating her life and what a blessing she is to those around her.

Award Winning

It's been one month of Kindergarten now. We're in the routine of going to school, doing homework and getting through each day. The girls are picking up Spanish really quickly and they can already count to 30 and know most of the sounds of the alphabet. It's amazing! This week was the first assembly of the school year. We were honored, excited and so proud when we found out the girls would be getting awards. Olivia was the Student of the Month and Lucy was the Super Student. They both were also part of the perfect attendance awards where Lucy won a raffle prize too! It was so exciting to be there at the assembly and have them be surprised. They were so excited and had the biggest smiles while they were up on stage. They have worked so hard and are such sweet, polite and respectful girls and it was so fun to see them get rewarded for it. We love these girls so much!!

Adjusting

There's been a whole new morning and evening routine now that the girls are in school. It was a bit hectic at first as we tried to balance everything and figure out how to fit it all in but we're getting there. The morning's are pretty easy now. We lay clothes out the night before, get backpacks and lunches ready and the girls know everything they have to do as soon as they get up. Andrew's been sleeping in a bit longer which helps us have time to get all ready before we go get him up and ready for the day. Kevin takes Andrew on his way to work and I take the girls which also helps break things up a bit. My parents take and pick the girls up from school. Olivia's having an easier time adjusting to school than Lucy is. They both like school but Lucy is having some separation anxiety in the mornings. She cried at drop-off the first few days and wants my mom to stay at the gate with her until the bell rings and then walk her to class. She doesn't want to go play ...

Pismo Beach Vacation

We squeezed in a quick road trip up the coast to Pismo Beach before school started. It was a relaxing and fun 4 days just the 5 of us. Thankfully, the kids were all really good in the car and we had fun singing, playing and sleeping on the drive there and home. Out hotel had beach access and a pool/spa so the girls were in heaven. The first 2 days we bounced back and forth between the beach and pool to mix up the shell hunting, sand castle building and swimming. The weather was mostly clear and breezy but warm, which is perfect for up there and also kind of unusual for this time of year. We went into town for dinner the first two nights and of course picked up some salt water taffy at the candy store. The girls favorite part was getting up in the morning and looking for sand dollars and se shells (we brought quite a few home). Olivia said one day the only thing missing from vacation was a park so after dinner Thursday night we stopped at a nearby park for sunset. Eve...
