Experimenting

The girls have been experimenting with some new things lately. 1) Walking backwards! I definitely took this skill for granted until the day I watched Olivia figure it out. She LOVES to walk backwards until she hits something now. It looks a bit like she's moonwalking. 2) The helmet. Contrary to what you may think based on its appearance, this is NOT a shape sorter. It is Lucy's helmet. Our favorite is when she pushes her shopping cart around wearing the helmet. We call her our bag-lady. Good Halloween costume, don't you think? 3) Sitting on/in things. Olivia started this fascination by sitting on anything and everything including her sister's head one time. Lucy decided to sit in the toy basket at Miama's house the other night. 4) Headbands and bows. I decided to get out little clips to try in their hair the other day and the girls loved them. They loved looking at each other's bows but didn't really pull them out. The next day I tried headbands which they ...

Naps Are For Babies (a letter from Lucy-Goosey)

Hello! I should be napping right now with my sister Olivia. I actually am quite tired and would love to just go lay in my bed with my paci, turtle square and blankie and go to sleep. That's what I used to do during naptime. But naptime doesn't quite work out like it used to anymore. Sister has always had a bit of trouble going to sleep, but not me, I love it! Now, when Mom or Dad lay us down in our cribs, I try to be a good girl and just suck on my paci, put my turtle square over my face and snuggle under my blankie. Sister on the other hand, is a disaster. She immediately stands up in her crib, throws her paci, turtle square and blankie onto the floor and starts talking, singing and making a bunch of noise. Pretty soon, I can't resist! It sounds like she's having so much fun so I give in and throw everything out of my crib and proceed to yell, scream, play peek-a-boo and just chat away with her too. We must get pretty loud every once in awhile because then all of a sud...

Welcome to Our Jungle

♫ In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight ♫ (now try getting that out of your head!) . The girls woke up while I was getting ready this morning and started with their usual banter, laughter and morning chatter. I like to imagine what they are talking about- their dreams last night, how full their diapers are, or their big plans for the day. This morning was no different with occasional fussing of one, then the other followed, by a round of laughter. Out of the blue this morning, Lucy let out a loud rrrrooooaaaarrrr! Can you tell we've been working on lion sounds? . It started with a small stuffed lion I found and got the girls cracking up by roaring in their faces last week. Pretty soon, I could get little roars out of Lucy and eventually Olivia joined in too. We practice often but they have never done it unprompted until now. It made my morning to hear Lucy loudly roaring first thing in the morning. Luckily Olivia thinks its hilarious and joined in for a few roa...

Peek-a-Boo Mailbox

Easter Pictures

We had a wonderful day surrounded by all of our family. We had a yummy and oh so filling brunch at Miama & Grandpa's house where we hunted eggs, and the girls got to spend plenty of time with their aunts, uncles and cousins. It is so fun to see how they immediately take to their cousins, Madeline & Jack. The girls are fascinated with everything they do and love to interact with them. Madeline & Jack are so cute and loving to the girls. After a quick trip home to attempt naps (which were unsuccesful for many reasons but mostly because of the earthquake ), we headed over to Grandpa & Grandma's house to visit, hunt more eggs and enjoy a delicious dinner. After learning that these little plastic eggs held an assortment of treats that morning(including puffs and cheerios), the girls knew right away what to do once they found the hidden eggs. It wasn't long before cheerios and puffs were scattered all over the house as they broke into each and every egg. By the...

Such Good Girls

The girls have been such troopers lately with all the chaos and stress and we're so proud of how they've handled it all. From missing naps, being bounced around from place to place, and eating at random times, to having basically no schedule and meeting all kinds of new people, the girls were amazing this past week. I know they could feel our stress and emotions from the week and it's like they knew we needed a little cooperation from them. That's why I can't really blame Olivia for a few night wakings the past few nights since she mostly just wants to cuddle. We're getting back into our routine this week, but things are still hectic and overwhelming at times. We're so lucky to have such wonderful little ducks to make each day brighter. I plan on posting our Easter pictures later this week.
It was the best Easter we could have asked for. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

Hoppy Easter!

We have what we have, no more, no less, so enjoy it all and consider yourself blessed.                       Have a wonderful Easter!!
