I Simply Remember My Favorite Things

Anyone else have the Sound of Music playing in their head?

Here are a few of our favorite things the girls have been doing lately:

• Hi-fi (well really high-five)- Lucy's especially into the high-fives and randomly throughout the day she will decide it's time for a high-five and chase down Olivia demanding a "hi-fi". Then they proceed to close it up with a fist pound. It's hilarious. The other morning I could hear them in their cribs first thing in the morning practicing their hi-fi's. We're very serious about our high-fives around here :)

• Chasing & wrestling- The girls love to chase each other around the house and then fall down on the pile of pillows and playfully wrestle. This afternoon while I made their lunch, Lucy attempted to sneak up on Olivia who was reading a book on the kitchen floor. I watched her crouch down and slowly walk over to sister while saying "I get you....I get you, sista". Then when she got close enough she laid down on top of Olivia and they rolled around for awhile laughing the whole time. I love seeing them play together.

• Manners- "Pwease", "tain yew" and "welcome" are now regularly used phrases here. They know when they want something they need to say pwease and don't even need that much reminding anymore. In fact, more often than not, when one of the girls is going to take a toy from the other one they say pwease before stealing it. So polite, right? They also know that thank you and you're welcome go as a pair. Apparently, they've come up with some sort of a plan where Lucy is the one to say thank you and Olivia says you're welcome.

• Funny: Lucy has started to identify things and people as funny. She even uses it appropriately! She will see someone being silly on Sesame Street or see Daddy doing something crazy and laugh and then announce "Dada funny" or whatever. We were quite surprised when we realized that's what she was saying and even more so when we realized she was only using it in appropriate situations!

• Discipline: The girls have taken to reprimanding each other. They definitely know what they are allowed to play with, touch, or move and what they're not. The cable box seems to be the most enticing thing in the house at the moment that they know they should not touch (especially when the tv's on). For some reason, they can't help themselves once it catches their attention. If Lucy starts pushing the buttons Olivia will drop what she's doing, run over yelling "No! No, sista!" the whole way. She will then wave her finger in her face and push her away to try to get her to stop. It cracks us up to hear them tell each other things like "sit down", "no, no" and "it's ok". About half the time whoever is getting in trouble will even actually stop!
