Happy New Year! We really hope 2011 is a great year as 2010 was a little rough for us. We were glad to ring in a new year.
We decided to go to the Rose Parade in Pasadena. It was absolutely amazing and we're so glad we did. The weather was perfect. We started out all bundled up but by the time the parade was over we were down to just our shirts and jeans. The sun was actually kind of warm at times. We left home around 7:15, the parade started at 8 and we were able to see the entire thing. We parked at 8, walked down Sierra Madre to a point after the parade turns off Colorado Blvd, but before the floats have to dip under the freeway overpass. The parade got to us around 9:30 and finished up right at 11:30. We stood, danced and oohed and aahed over the floats, bands and horses for 2 hours. The girls loved it and were able to see everything.

The floats are beautiful. There is such intricate detail on them it's hard to believe they are all made out of flowers, seeds, straw etc. We highly recommend anyone in SoCal make the trip at least once. You definitely don't have to camp out to get decent seats and traffic, parking, and crowds were not a problem at all. We plan on going again in the future. Here are some of our favorite float pictures.
