The girls talk a LOT these days and it's for the most part understandable, well at least to me. Here are some of my current favorites:
-Come on Mama!- when they want me to go somewhere to play with them
-Sit down, Mama!- to read a book, do a puzzle or watch a movie
-Poop coming- this is Lucy's favorite thing to say over and over again as she waits for the inevitable.
-Shhh, listen- Lucy just started with this one
-I get you- an oldie but goody. Olivia loves to "get" her sister, dad, me and toys. It involves her sneaking up on you and then putting her face into your stomach or back and growling.
-______ (blocks, books, shoes etc) away- my current favorite as they decide to clean up one thing so they can get something else out.
They tell us what they want and don't want to eat, what toys they want to play with and when they want to go outside or somewhere else. They tell us when they have to go potty, love to sing songs (Olivia sings "That's Elmo's World" into every microphone-shaped object she can find) including songs they make up (there's a Marshall song and a Mama song we've heard so far). They request Toy Story movies, Blue's Clues or Winnie the Pooh movies like they're going out of style (which hopefully they will soon!). They are both pros at the ABC's now too.
In general, they're talkers. It's pretty much non stop from the time they wake up until they go to bed. They provide a sort of running commentary throughout the day. For example: "Mama potty. Yay Mama! Mama shower. All done shower. Mama brush teeth. Mama jeans. Mama get dressed. Shoes on" etc. We love it! Everyday it's new words and associations that amaze us. Yesterday my mom loved the fact that when they requested to go outside and she told them it was too cold, they had the solution. Jackets they told her.
