So we're 1 week into our transition to big girls beds and it's been surprisingly easy peasy. We had a few nights where they were playing instead of going to sleep and we kept having to go in and give them warnings or separate them for brief periods. Finally, we turned Lucy around so their heads are at opposite ends of the beds to discourage them. This helped but the arrival of Happy the Elf helped as well. The girls go straight to bed, we tuck them in, say prayers, remind them about Happy and off to sleep they go. It's wonderful! The funny thing is that I don't think they realize they can get out of their beds without us. Never once did they try to climb out of their cribs. It's the same thing with their beds. Once we lay them down, they don't get up. In the morning or after nap time they just call for us to come get them rather than getting up themselves. It's kind of funny and really convenient. I keep wondering who's going to figure that out first.
Naps have been fine too. They still nap in separate rooms, 1 on their bed and 1 on ours, without any problems. We definitely LOVE having the beds instead of cribs. The girls play by themselves in their room even more now. By pushing in the second bed, they have tons of room to play. Of course I think they prefer to have that bed out so they can climb, jump and roll up and down between the two. Crazies.
