As an early birthday treat, we took the girls to Disneyland last Friday. We told them we were going but we knew they didn't really remember the last time we went and weren't sure what to expect. Boy were they surprised to see what Disneyland had in store for them!
We immediately hopped on the train to buy us some time to eat our lunch and take in the sites. Entering Disneyland is a little overwhelming for even me so I'm sure the girls were stunned. Of course, being big train fans, the girls were quite happy. We got off at the Toontown station and headed to Small World. We lucked out and only had to wait less than 10 mins! The girls loved it (who doesn't?) and were pointing to all kinds of things they could see.
When we were walking over to Small World, I noticed this Princess Fair section as we walked by. I couldn't quite figure out what it was so I ran back over when we got off the ride. After asking around a bit, I realized we HAD to stay for this and it ended up being the highlight of the day! They have a whole stadium tucked back in there where they do little princess shows and storytime and then a Princess Walk where you can go in this little walkway and meet 2-3 princesses. I stood in line while Kevin took the girls to the show that was about to start. The girls loved the show and all the princesses came out and danced and then all the kids got to get up and learn royal dances with them. At the end ribbons fly into the air and the girls just HAD to have a ribbon. When they joined me in line it was our turn. We went into the walkway and were immediately greeted by Belle. She was so sweet and got right down on the ground and gave the girls hugs and stood and talked to them for a couple of minutes. The girls were so happy and stood right next to her holding her hands and answering all her questions. They loved taking their picture with her and the whole thing was so sweet. Next in the line up was Tiana (from Princess & the Frog). She wasn't as chatty with the girls but still held their hands, said hello and took pictures with them. The girls were in princess heaven!
After all our princess dreams came true, we got some much needed ice cream (it was over 80 degrees that day!) and decided to get a seat for the parade that was about to start. We lucked out and found a corner spot where we got a great view of the floats approaching and turning the corner. Here are the girls being cuddly while we wait for the parade to start.
The girls loved the parade last time we were at Disneyland so we figured this would be a hit again. It was! The stood up in the stroller and pointed, waved and danced the entire parade. They blew kisses at the princesses and waved at all the performers. They loved yelling out which float was coming next since all their favorite Disney movies were represented.
It was also along Main Street that we happened upon Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). I spotted her just standing around the side of the castle and grabbed the girls and ran over there, camera-less. Just like Belle she was very sweet and got right down and gave the girls hugs and chatted with them for a few minutes even while a line of people starting forming and waiting for her. I'm so glad they care so much about the kids' experience and don't just push you along to take pictures and move through the line. It meant so much to the girls (and me) to have that experience.
We walked around a bit more and did Autopia, the Carousel, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pinocchio and Dumbo. The girls loved driving the cars in Autopia but Olivia was freaked out (for obvious reasons) during Pirates, Mr. Toad and Pinocchio. Definitely too young for those rides still, oops. We made up for it with the carousel and Dumbo though so all was well again by the time we left. We stopped for a quick dinner and a popcorn snack and headed out of the park.
We were all quite tired by the end of the night, but the girls especially since they went without naps all day. These pictures are basically as soon as we pulled out of the parking spot.
