Christmas Morning

It was straight to bed when we got home Christmas Eve. The girls were exhausted since we skipped naps that day and even with all the excitement of what Christmas morning would bring, they conked out right away. Then Santa and I got to work getting ready for the morning. Luckily, everything that needed to be put together had already been completed ahead of time. It was simply a matter of putting everything out.

Kevin set up the girls' bikes and helmets outside and brought in the dollhouse while I brought out the wrapped presents and tried to stash away everything they got that night. Here was how it all looked when we went to bed that night.

When we got up Christmas morning and the girls came out to see everything they were so happy to see their new dollhouse. Right away they inspected it and decided to go get out all their princess dolls to play in it. We had to remind them of all the other presents they had under the tree.

Lucy stopped in the middle of present opening to read her new Olivia book. It was so sweet.

"Look at my new shoes Mom!"

After we finished all the presents inside from Mom and Dad, we convinced the girls to put on their new shoes and test them out by going outside for a few minutes. They didn't think anything of it and willingly went outside to walk around. Little did I know, there was also a surprise waiting for me too!

"Why are there 3 bikes?!?"

Of course we all had to hop on our new bikes right away and learn how to ride. They caught on pretty quickly and after some initial frustration with stopping and starting there were off and going. Sweet little girls in love with their first "big bikes".

 Grandpa, Grandma and Aunt Mary met us at Church and then came over to our house to inspect our gifts and enjoy some brunch. They loved watching the girls practice riding their bikes and using all their princess toys on the dollhouse. During a break from dollhousing, Aunt Mary noticed the princesses must have all been tired since everyone was laying down. There were characters sleeping in the bathtub, on top of the toilet, on the piano bench and even hanging on the chandelier to sleep. They had so much fun pretending in their doll house.

Christmas morning was quite exciting for the girls and Kevin and I had so much fun watching the surprise and excitement at each gift they opened. Even though they discarded clothes off to the side, they would give them a good hug and comment on how cute they were before tossing them aside. The biggest disappointment was for Lucy. She was really hoping for a black man and a white lady but since we couldn't ever figure out exactly what she was talking about, she was sad. She cried 3 separate times about the fact that Santa didn't bring her the black man and white lady. It was so, so sad to see her disappointment. She hasn't mentioned it in a few days, but it's still bugging me to figure out what she's talking about. I'm thinking of either showing her pictures from Toys R Us or taking the kid down to the Disney store to try and see if she can point it out. I will let you know if/when we figure it out. So far the best guesses have been a bride and a groom, since she typically describes things based on their clothes color.

The girls ended up with bikes, the dollhouse, clothes, books, art supplies, shoes, the movie Brave and silly things like whoopee cushions and slinkies. The bikes and dollhouse have clearly been the winners so far.
