We surprised the girls with a trip to see the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus Sunday morning. They love any sort of outing and I had been waiting and waiting to take them to the circus. I actually did the Baby's First Circus program right after they were born and have been saving their free tickets for just such an occasion. Since it was another rainy and humid day around here, it was a perfect way to spend the afternoon.
We got there in time to go down on the arena floor and see some of the circus acts up close. We watched the elephants for awhile and then watched an acrobat perform before heading up to our seats. The girls were in awe of the whole thing. Olivia was immediately into it dancing in her seat and pointing/laughing hysterically when the stilt walkers came out. She couldn't get over how funny they looked. Lucy sat back and just took it all in at first and eventually began pointing and wanting me to notice more things as the show went on.
They loved the acrobats who hung from the ceiling and performed, the ponies, tigers, dogs and elephants. Our seats were perfect for the tightrope walkers since they were pretty much right at eye level. The girls were so intrigued by them and kept saying, "oh no, what's going to happen?"
It was a really fun afternoon and I'm glad we did it. The girls have been talking about it ever since and saying how much fun they had. Everyone should go see the circus at least once!
