I realized I haven't kept up much with how our adjustment was after Andrew was born. I guess I was too busy just living it to actually even realize it! But now, 7 months in, I have time to reflect and process it all. It already feels like Andrew's always been here. Just having the girls, being pregnant and even him being born all feels sooooo long ago. How is it already closer to him being 1 than a newborn?
The girls adore Andrew and have since he arrived. They are amazing big sisters. I love how every morning as soon as they hear him start chatting in his crib they ask if they can go in and say good morning. They stand next to his crib and talk and laugh. They make faces, give him toys, play peek-a-boo and talk or sing. Whenever he starts fussing and one of us can't get to him, they are always right there trying to make him feel better or tell us what is wrong. They love pretending to talk for him, especially in the car. I think they use him as their 3rd vote on anything like listening to Frozen songs or getting ice cream. Whenever they get in the car they yell "buckled" when they have buckled their seatbelts and it's time to go. Now, one or both of them also yells "buckled" in a deeper pretend voice that they have created for Andrew. It's hilarious. They still ask to hold him and give him hugs and kisses at bedtime.
Andrew is just as infatuated with them. He smiles as soon as soon as he sees them even if he was in the middle of crying. As long as he can watch what they are doing, he is content. He can play for an hour in his exersaucer, on the floor or in his doorway jumper as long as the girls are right next to him. He joins in their games in his own way by yelling, laughing or talking to them, whether they notice or not. It drives me crazy, but lately, when he's nursing and he suddenly hears the girls run by playing or yell something from the other room, he will stop eating, throw his head back and call for them saying, "Eh!" and then wait, and then do it again as if waiting for a response. Then he goes right back to eating. It's ridiculous and super cute all at the same time. He is so very observant of everything they do. He knows which corner they went around into the kitchen and immediately looks to the other doorway to wait for them to come out. He sits and mimics their hand motions, gestures and watches where they put their toys so he can try to get them.
I wasn't sure if the girls would just ignore him since they already have a built-in playmate in each other. So far, even though they do play their own games and spend time doing their own things, they definitely make time for him and include him by either playing toys with him or playing next to him. We don't even have to beg them to sit down and play with him, they love him so much, they just do it.
I love those kids!

As someone who has siblings, it is heartwarming to see this. We need all the support we can get in the one life we get. Andrew and the girls are lucky to have each other. And lucky to have you and Kevin. Thank you for posting this. I loved it.
