It sure was a busy couple of days with Andrew's birthday, Halloween and his birthday party all in 3 consecutive days. So much fun though!
I took the day off for Andrew's birthday to enjoy some extra time with him. Keeping up with tradition, Andrew woke up to a room full of balloons. He (and the girls) loved it! They played in the balloons first thing and Andrew loved trying to grab the balloons and have them fly away. We got to take the girls to school, run a few errands, have lunch with Kevin and then get the girls from school. It was a busy day but it was nice to have a day off with him. We gave him his presents that night even though he wasn't too interested. He wanted to pound on the boxes but could care less about taking off the paper. The girls helped him open and play with a few things and then we set the last few aside for when he was more interested. Kevin had taken the girls out to pick put presents for Andrew earlier and they came home with a tower ball toy and set of MegaBlocks. They are such good big sisters!
His party was Saturday which ended up being a cold and rainy morning. The rain stopped for the party but it was still pretty chilly all day. Thank goodness for our large covered patio so most people could still hang out outside. Andrew had fun with his cousins and the other kids. He loves watching what they are doing and then mimicking them. Norah, the girls, our friend Michele's girls and Madeline & Jack had fun playing in the yard for the majority of the party. Kyle & Natalia were nice enough to bring their homemade candy canon up to entertain the kids (and adults). We stuffed it with candy and let the kids all enjoy the task of picking it up where it dropped. Everyone loved it!
We had some snacks and cupcakes and, of course, a cake for Andrew. He was so funny with the cake. I fully expected him to just smash into it. Instead, he very gently picked off all the blue icing around the top and ate that. Then he scraped a little bit of the white frosting off the cake without actually getting any of the cake. He seemed to be finished after that so Grandma started to take the cake away but when he freaked out she brought it back and he carefully picked off a bit of the red frosting from the bottom and then decided he really was finished (I couldn't blame him since we all know red frosting is gross). It was so funny to see how methodical he was in eating the cake and I was amazed that he didn't actually harm the cake at all.
We moved on to presents after that and he got so.much.stuff! Clothes, shoes, toys, books, a growth chart, money and bath stuff. Spoiled rotten by so many loving family and friends. Overall, it was an awesome day and everyone seemed to have fun, including the birthday boy. We love him so much and are so happy that his red and blue balloon birthday party turned out so well.
