Finally, a break from making lunches, laying out clothes, waking up early and homework! It's finally Spring Break!
After our trip to the desert we had a fun, restful week off. I took half the week off work so we could do stuff.
Tuesday we went with the DLI group to tour the El Tapatio market (in Spanish). It was actually a really great little activity! The manager was very accommodating and showed the kids so much of the store from the tortilla making process and machines, to the refrigerators, trash compactor and meat counter and over into the bakery. They kept it lively for the little kids and had plenty for them to love- they fed them all rice and quesadillas and let them frost and eat cupcakes from the bakery. What kid wouldn't love that? I'm so glad we were able to go.
After dropping off Andrew with my parents, I took the girls to lunch at Islands (their request) and then to see the new Cinderella movie. They were so excited because it had the Frozen short in front of it (Frozen Fever) which was really just meh. The song was pretty bad but of course the little story was cute and there were funny parts. Cinderella was so good though and the girls and I really enjoyed it! This was their first non-animated in-theater movie experience.
Thursday we went to the park to enjoy the sun for awhile. It seemed to do a decent job wearing Andrew out for his morning nap too :)
Friday we decided to brave traffic and get out of the house for awhile and headed to the Long Beach Aquarium. My mom joined us for a fun few hours of fish, penguins, otters, sharks and more. The girls both loved the water play area where they promised to just get a little wet and came back soaked, of course. They also liked that when we first arrived the large tank in the lobby was giving a presentation and feeding demonstration which was really exciting. We had so much fun we ended up getting the year passes so I'm sure we'll be heading there more often this year.
