Disneyland!

Anxiously waiting to leave

We braved a rainy day forecast to use our Disneyland tickets. It turned out to be such a perfect day that I only want to go on rainy days now!

There was hardly anyone there, even in the morning when it was warm and sunny. The clouds rolled in around lunchtime and then it poured rain for an hour and a half straight and then cleared up and was dry the rest of the day. Most of the people who had been around all morning fled as soon as the rain started and it was even less crowded by evening.

We started off by stopping in to City Hall where the girls were treated to a birthday phone call from Goofy. Then, as luck would have it, when we walked outside there was Goofy! We stopped to get their girls some embroidered ears next and they wore them all day long. They were so cute!

They insisted that the Tea Cups had to be the first ride and it was! They wanted to go fast and Kevin was up for the challenge. They loved every minute of it. Thank goodness I don't mind either.

We made it through everything they wanted to do: Small World, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dumbo, Carousel, Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours, Toontown complete with Mickey, Princess Royal Faire, Tarzan's Treehouse, Mickey's Map show and the Paint the Night electric parade. Plus there was all the stops for snacks and food: ice cream, popcorn, lunch etc.

The rain came at the perfect time. We were just walking into Star Tours when it started and then we headed for Main Street to wait it out at the ice cream shop. When that got a bit crowded we headed across the street to the Steamboat Willie movie theater and sat and watched the old black and white Mickey movies for awhile. After a nice rest we decided to brave the rain and dash back to the Haunted House and after a restroom stop, the rain stopped. It couldn't have been timed better.

After dinner we found a great spot for the parade, got some popcorn and settled in. The parade was awesome, as you would expect. It reminded me a lot of the old electrical parade. They just do such a good job with the costumes even lighting up! The girls loved it and waved to all the characters that came by. A few of them even waved back!

We were stuck up by Small World after the parade so we took the opportunity to walk on Dumbo 3 more times since there was no line! Getting to ride in their own elephants was definitely one of the highlights for the girls.

It was an awesome day. We did whatever the girls wanted as many times as they wanted. So Haunted Mansion twice, Pirates only once, And they wanted to do Tea Cups again but the rain closed it. Their absolute favorite was Star Tours. I'm so glad this worked out and I'm fairly certain they had a pretty magical 7th birthday!
