Well the girls have had their first two ortho appointments now and we're all in on this. The first appointment was just to put in their spacers. Olivia got 2 on the bottoms only and Lucy got 3. Within 2 days of getting the spacers they each lost another bottom tooth. Guess those spacers pushed everything just enough to wiggle those out.
The second appointment was to fit them for their expanders. We also found out they need to have 6 baby teeth pulled EACH. That's 12 teeth in one day - the Tooth Fairy better get ready!! We need to get these baby teeth out to make room for their adult teeth which are a hot mess all stacked up on top of each other in their tiny little jaws.
So in two weeks the girls get their expanders and a week after that they get all those baby teeth pulled. Kevin gets the honor of attending the extraction appointment this time. The girls are such troopers and seem totally unfazed by the whole thing. They remember getting their previous extractions but aren't upset that they need more. They are still excited about the whole concept of braces and mostly of picking what color bands they get on their bonds. Even though I've tried to prepare them that it will be sore at times, they are excited at the prospect of drinking milkshakes to ease the pain.
So here we go with this! Hopefully in a few short years they will have even more beautiful smiles with all, or at least most, of their adult teeth fitting in their mouths. :)
