A Twin-Free Week

The girls went on their first big adventure this summer! They went to Arizona to spend a week with Auntie Sarah, Uncle Tim, and the boys. They were beyond excited when they found out about the trip and never thought twice about if they would miss us or their brother. I knew they would be fine and knew they would have the best trip.

So excited and ready to go!

The three amigos on the road to Auntie's house!

Auntie Katie and Lizzy were driving out to Arizona for the weekend anyway so the girls hitched a ride with them on Friday afternoon and loved spending the weekend with them too. The rest of the week the girls spent helping with the boys, baking with Auntie, crafting up a storm and watching movies. They got to go to Legoland Discovery Center too, which they loved.

We sent them along with an old cell phone where they could text us on wi-fi and take photos and videos of their trip. It was their first experience with a cell phone of their own and a test to make sure they could do it. They loved having the phone and took a ton of photos and videos, were texting and Facetiming us daily but were also able to put it away and not rely on it for entertainment, which was nice to know. The phone went back in the drawer when they came home and they did not make a fuss about it whatsoever. They knew this was a treat for the trip and fully understood it was not a forever thing. I'm so glad we let them take it though. It was really fun to see the trip through their eyes.

Overall, it was hands-down the best week of their summer. They loved spending all that time with the Meiers, playing with the boys and all the fun things Auntie had planned for them. I know they are looking forward to doing this again next year!

Sarah, Tim, and boys -

Thank you so much for taking such good care of my girls. You made their summer and I loved hearing all their stories, seeing all their crafts and seeing the pure joy they had at your house. We can not thank you enough for loving them so much!

Andrew had, I think, the hardest time with the girls being gone. Every day he would ask me if today was the day the girls were coming back. When I first told him the girls were gone for the whole week he cried and he cried again after we Facetimed them on their very first night. He slowly got used to the extra attention but it was a weird week for him. He was definitely missing the girls. Kevin and Andrew drove out to Arizona the next weekend to pick up the girls and spend a few days there too so Andrew could get his Meier-fix. All was well as soon as Andrew got to Arizona and got to spend time with everyone and have his girls back. I just love how much he loves the girls. They really are all so good to each other.
