March 10, 2009 - March 10, 2019 - Ten Years of Loving These Girls
Happy 10th Birthday to these amazing girls! We celebrated BIG this year since it was double-digits AND their Golden Birthday. I wanted to make things extra special for them so it was a weekend full of surprises.
The first surprise was on Friday when we woke them up and surprised them with a trip to Universal Studios to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This was the one and only thing they wanted for their birthday and we were not disappointed. It was the perfect day with great, finally not rainy, weather and not crowded at all. We spent the majority of the day in the Harry Potter world and were able to go to Olivanders where Lucy was chosen to do the full experience and have a personalized wand selected for her and then Olivia also got a wand of her choice. They were interactive wands so we were able to go all over the village to try different spells to make magic happen in various shop windows. It was so cool and the kids loved it! We also tried Butterbeer, rode the roller coast (Andrew's favorite) and did the Forbidden Journey ride at least 6 times. We went through all the shops and watched the shows too. We also did the Studio Tour which was fine but a bit scary for Andrew at times. He still talks about it though as being fun so thankfully we didn't traumatize him. Overall it was a great day and the kids loved every minute of it.

Surprise number two was at the house when we got home. Auntie Sarah, Uncle Time, Zack and Nick came into town for the weekend and were staying with us! It was perfect so we could celebrate the girls, Nick and Zack all weekend long with plenty of family get-togethers.
Saturday morning I dropped the girls off at my parent's house since they had lunch and shopping plans with my parents and Aunt Mary for a special birthday treat. They were very excited and had no clue what I was really up to. We had a big surprise party for them when they got home complete with a bouncer, all their cousins, the neighbor kids and some of their school friends. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a special day for them and us. I wasn't great about taking photos because it was such a busy day.

I can't believe they are 10! I spent all weekend looking back at photos of them when they were babies and I got flashes of so many memories as they've grown. It's amazing how in the blink of an eye I can play their lives over in my mind like a movie. From seeing them in the hospital to rolling around on the floor, doing their crazy butt-scoot around the house to walking, running, talking and beyond. Now we read the same books, watch movies together and play awesome board games. It really is amazing to think of how much we all have grown and learned together these past 10 years.
We had a wonderful weekend celebrating with family and friends and they were so happy and grateful for everything. They kept thanking us for Universal Studios and the party for days after it was all over and saying how it was the best weekend ever. Made my heart so happy to see them happy. We wrapped up their birthday with cupcakes at school on Monday and the birthday circle at ballet on Tuesday.
Sunday we spent celebrating Zack and Nick at a super fun bowling party with cousins again. It really was a total birthday weekend!
