The McPherson Chronicles

We got to bring home our first photo of the baby this week and the girls were anxious to see. They crowded around and oohed and aahhed over the picture. It was very sweet. Olivia even needed a closer look. :) Oh and yes, there are 2 photos but it's just 2 copies of the same photo, not 2 babies. I promise. 

The girls and Great Grandma took a train ride around the mall together last week. Grandma said it only took 94 years for her to ride a train!

My mom couldn't believe when she saw these drawings the girls left on their dry erase boards at her house last week. This is the first time they have drawn actual people! We were shocked at how detailed they are. We've often requested pictures of people but up until now the girls have preferred to draw food, circles, scribbles etc. Here is Olivia's. She wanted my mom to notice that you couldn't see the feet because they were in the grass. Her drawing is of Lucy and herself (I think Olivia is supposed to be on the right). And here is Lucy's picture. Again, a picture of herself and Olivia (can't remember which is which right now). 

My mom caught this picture of Olivia at naptime last week. Guess she could only get through so many books before she passed out.

It feels like the never-ending plague has settled in over my house. Kevin and the girls got colds over spring break and though the girls seemed to just get a mild case, it has lingered ever since. Last weekend, Olivia's eyes suddenly got all goopy, running and sick and a cough started. Now Lucy's started up with the coughing and runny nose. We were hoping Olivia's eyes would clear up on their own and the minor cold/cough would just run its course but it hasn't. Olivia was coughing almost all night and that's the one thing I cannot sleep through, so I was up too. I finally gave in and made a Dr. appointment for her this afternoon. I'll sneak Lucy along and hopefully get the Dr. to peak at her too. Hoping we can just get this cleared up once and for all before I end up sick too. Update: Olivia has double ear infections, a lot of mucus and basically a cold in her eyes. Poor thing. Makes sense why she's been having trouble hearing us lately. She never once com...

The girls went to their first friend birthday party this weekend and had a blast. The neighbor's daughter, Julia, turned 4 a few weeks ago and they had her birthday party at a local gymnastics studio (gym? arena? warehouse?). We got there just as they were starting a little obstacle course and clearly all the other kids were more used to this stuff but the girls jumped right in after watching a few of the other kids race across. Then everyone moved over to this giant foam pit where they swung from a rope over the pit and then could decide whether to jump off and into the foam blocks, or hang on and have the worker catch them when the rope swung back to the edge. The girls watched a few kids do both ways- hanging on and letting go, and then each tried a turn just holding onto the rope and swinging. When Olivia's second turn came she said she was going to let go and she did! She jumped right into the foam blocks and crawled all the way out. I was definitely impressed conside...

Auntie Sarah sure does have some amazing magic skills. Hopefully she can also reverse it and bring them back!
