Thanksgiving Fun (now with video)

This year was a very laid back, quiet and fun Thanksgiving. We started the day with a delicious brunch and some outside time at my parents house. After checking out all the Black Friday ads, we headed over to Kevin's mom's house for the rest of the day. We had our Thanksgiving feast early afternoon and after digesting a bit, decided to set up the Christmas tree. The girls loved helping with ornaments, especially Olivia. She would pick out a branch to hang her ornament and nearly always hang on her own. They also discovered bubble wrap when Nana taught them how to smash it with their feet. Olivia made sure to get a good stomp in every time she went for another ornament. It was quite entertaining to see how into it they are this year. What a difference between last year and this year. The girls were almost 9 months last year at Thanksgiving and scooting around and working on standing. I can't wait to see their reaction as Christmas festivities get even more in ful...

No Wonder They're Confused

After hearing these phrases over and over again all day it's a wonder the girls can figure out what they can and can't do at all. -Don't sit on that! -Sit down -In your mouth, please (toothbrush time- apparently there is quite the temptation to brush everything in site) -No, no, not in your mouth -Eat it -Don't eat that -Go sit with sister -Don't sit on sister -Don't touch, that's trash/dirty -Pick it up and throw it in the trash Is it just me, or are we constantly sending mixed messages?

I Simply Remember My Favorite Things

Anyone else have the Sound of Music playing in their head? Here are a few of our favorite things the girls have been doing lately: Hi-fi (well really high-five)- Lucy's especially into the high-fives and randomly throughout the day she will decide it's time for a high-five and chase down Olivia demanding a "hi-fi". Then they proceed to close it up with a fist pound. It's hilarious. The other morning I could hear them in their cribs first thing in the morning practicing their hi-fi's. We're very serious about our high-fives around here :) Chasing & wrestling- The girls love to chase each other around the house and then fall down on the pile of pillows and playfully wrestle. This afternoon while I made their lunch, Lucy attempted to sneak up on Olivia who was reading a book on the kitchen floor. I watched her crouch down and slowly walk over to sister while saying "I get you....I get you, sista". Then when she got close enough she laid dow...

First Trip to Disney

We made our first trip to Disneyland last weekend! It was a spur of the moment, aligning of the stars, and some awesome friends Catherine & Mike, that made the trip possible. We met my sister out there on Sunday and got there right at lunchtime. After a quick lunch at the front of the park we headed back towards Small World, which I knew the girls would enjoy. We decided on Dumbo as our first ride. Who doesn’t love Dumbo, right? Wrong. Olivia cried and screamed through the entire ride as she sat in Kevin’s lap. Lucy sat with me and was scared at first but once we got going she had fun. After that traumatizing event, we headed over to the storybook ride next door. We got right onto a boat manned by a friend of ours from high school. So random that we ran into her! She did an awesome job giving us the tour of storybook land and the girls loved their boat ride. So, one good ride experience one bad one. Not too bad. Small World was a total hit! We had never been during the holiday s...

It Worked!

Time change victory!! All the effort we put in to slowly adjusting the girls' schedule in anticipation of time change worked! They went to bed a little after 9 last night and were up at their usual 6:30/7. This is the first time I have woken up before they did AND felt well-rested! So now we're back to their usual schedule.

Our Halloween Pictures

I know I know I know. Most people have moved on from Halloween but I'm  a little behind. Just now getting caught up on anything and everything that should have been done last weekend. I am so thankful to have a job but if it gets much more hectic, I think my head will start spinning. We had a great time taking the girls trick or treating. They were so brave, thought nothing of themselves or other children walking around in costumes and willingly went to people's doors, deposited their candy in their buckets and walked away. They hardly said a word during the entire experience. The best house on their list was the neighbors who had 2 little dogs. The girls freaked out and were so excited to see dogs up close and personal that they nearly forgot to get some candy. They would have stood there all night admiring the dogs if we let them. They had a great time, were thoroughly worn out by the end and were the cutest little chicken and bumble bee we've ever seen. So without furth...
